Time to sit down and design a custom coat of arms!

I had to dig through the seven or so moving boxes we still hadn't unpacked to find them, but BOOYAH, i've got my research tomes at the ready. I'm psyched. I'll be leafing through the following suckahs till I require a nap:

A Complete Guide to Heraldry (with 779 illustrations and 8 full-color plates) by A.C.Fox-Davies
The Complete Dictionary of Symbols general editor Jack Tresidder (it's gloriously packed with hundreds of illustrations from every conceivable world culture or religion)
Symbols: Encyclopedia of Western Signs and Ideograms by Carl G. Liungman (this covers contemporary pictograms like @ and smily faces through hobo signs down to things like "a circle" and tones of alchemical stuff, I LOVE this book)

Hey, does anybody on my flist know Latin?

Oh latin. You suck and I am glad I don't remember you at all.

What's the coat of arms for? I always thought your idea of designing them for people was so frigging cool. >XP

it is for icarly fandom bullshittery. How ridiculous!

If I manage to hash out a technique for this one, we'll see about making individual ones...

I probably don't! you can expect me to bug you when I need some translations. Wheeeeeeeeee~

I take this stuff seriously because symbolism and fairytales and metaphors are the real meat of my brainspace. This is the stuff I think is *fun*. All the teenagers kissing and absurd sculpture and traditional fandom nonsense is just that: nonsense. Distilling something down to a set of symbols or interrelated concepts is what I *really* always want to do. That's why I overthink everything and then write twenty paragraph essays that nobody reads.
